The price wars concerning the Amazon Kindle and other up and coming ebook readers is still in motion, and there is a lot of debate as to who will come up as the winner of this fierce battle. The dropping of the price for Amazon’s new Wi-Fi only Kindle to a low price of $139 has taken the world by surprise, and there is much anticipation of whether other companies will be following suit.

The Kobo that is being sold by Borders is currently at the price of $150, and it is the same for Sony’s Reader. However, both of these devices lack the wireless connectivity that Amazon’s new Kindle has. When first coming out, the Kindle debuted at $399, and the current contrast in price is shocking.

The price of the new generation of Kindle is not all that’s attractive, as it comes with a 50 percent better contrast than other e-readers on the market at the moment, along with a 21% smaller body than the previous kindle. Focusing on page turn speed has proven to be an essential factor, and Amazon has not overlooked the necessity of implementing a 20% faster page turn speed.
