Best Buy and Clearwire Offer 4G Mobile Service

4G-Wireless
In what is to be a more convenient offering of wireless services to consumers, Best Buy has managed to obtain agreement from Clearwire for the rental of network space. Cleanwire has been aiming to rent out its available network capacity in order to boost revenues and make the most of what it has left unsused.
According to Jed Stillman, vice president of Best Buy Connect, “This agreement paves the way to providing one-stop shopping and support for mobile broadband as more people become more connected across all kinds of devices. We believe consumers will appreciate the added advantage of relying on Best Buy Connect for both 3G and 4G mobile broadband services beginning next year.”
The plan for Clearwire is to strengthen its network across the United States by offering a 4G network using WiMax wireless technology by the end of the year. However, rivals are also planning to launch their own networks with provision of 4G, so it is a race to see who captures the most market share.
Best Buy is the first non-investor and wholesale customer to form such an agreement with Clearwire, but their wholesale rates are not the same as other cable companies as they don’t get the preferred wholesale rate, not having a “most favored nation” status.
