Facebook is the hottest thing since sliced bread right now. In an effort to keep up with it, however, Google has recently purchased the social gaming company known as Slide Inc. Google is trying to become more socially aware in order to connect with its users, and it is reported that the price paid was about $200 million.
According to David Glazer, director of engineering at Google, “For Google, the Web is about people, and we’re working to develop open, transparent and interesting (and fun!) ways to allow our users to take full advantage of how technology can bring them closer to friends and family.”
Google is getting more and more pressure to keep up with the likes of Facebook, and the purchase is just another indication that it is pushing towards the area of social-networking with a strong pace. Google had earlier tried doing so as well, but the results of attempting to access the social networking market have led to nothing but failure for them so far.
